Funky fish bedding

I love this bedding set. I love the cheerful bold color and the funky fishes, though I do wonder if any small baby or toddler would be a little frightened by all those gaping mouths with teeth! It goes to show how my tastes have changed from the first baby, where it was all about gentle baby farm animals and soothing colors (and it still will be about gentle baby farm animals since we're re-using all that stuff), but if I had to do it all over again knowing how I feel now, I might have chosen something that appealed a little more to my sense of humor and whimsy - you know, for all those zombie like trips to the crib for night time feedings. At least these fish make me smile.

Bedding, in fact, can cost more than the crib.

Parents-to-be will find everything from dragonfly-print fabrics to toile to exquisite silks and satins embroidered with brightly colored flowers for bedding choices.

"I'm looking for something different," Rica Hansing says, as she shops at USA Baby/Child Space in Castleton, Ind., for bedding for her daughter's convertible crib. Hansing's daughter Emma is almost 2, which means she's ready to graduate from the crib's "green and white toile with some chenille" to something more sophisticated for her toddler bed.

New owners have taken over BAMBINI INFANT INTERIORS in Providence, which offers products and services ranging from baby booties to full nursery design and decor, and are having an open house at the store, 215 S. Main St., Saturday and next Sunday. Maria Disimone and Michelle Miceli have remodeled the store and added new lines such as shoes (through toddler sizes), a lot more clothing, and difficult-to-find brands such as Bugaboo strollers. They are the only purveyor in the region of high-end Lulla Smith bedding and of several furniture lines.

The Bambini owners have joined with several other baby-related companies to form RIBBON, the Rhode Island Baby Business Owner Network. The members meet monthly to discuss business issues, seek professional advice and share referrals. They've planned a "Moms' Night Out" on Oct.
